Prayer is key to the health and growth of the church. Persevering faith-filled fervent united prayer is the one thing that the church must do; yet it is perhaps one of the hardest things to sustain.
For the English congregation, church-wide prayer meetings are held on every 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 8.15pm.
During the other weeks members meet in small groups for prayer at different times and in different places that best suit them. This has helped us overcome the reluctance of members to travel long distances to church and getting caught in the Penang traffic jams. It has also enabled those who can't attend the Wednesday night prayer meeting to attend one of the day-time prayer groups.
For the Hokkien congregation, prayer meetings are held every Wednesday, 8.15pm within the church premises.
The Mandarin congregation meets to pray once a month on a Sunday, also within the church premises.
Georgetown's prayer ministry over the years has embarked on many different kinds of prayer initiatives, such as prayer walks, praying on-site with insight, spiritual warfare, identificational repentance, corporate repentance and informed intercession.
One of the most effective means of prayer, we discovered, is praying simultaneously with an event - bathing the event in deep intercession; it could be an evangelistic meeting or the Sunday worship service - and we have seen some good results.
If you sense God's calling upon your life into the exciting ministry of prayer and intercession, join us as we seek Him and move His hands through our fervent prayers.
