GOD
HEALED ME
On the afternoon of 27th May 2002, I contracted a very high fever and had a bad sore throat immediately after coming back from the church camp. In fact, I already had a slight fever the night before. I went to see a doctor that evening and was feeling very sick with the persistent high fever that did not abate despite having taken Paracetamol. However, when my urine started to turn dark brown, I knew I had a big problem. So, I admitted myself into hospital that night.
The following morning, I was examined by a physician/nephrologist and a number of tests were carried out. When the test results were known the prognosis was that two-thirds of both of my kidneys were not functioning. I would very likely need dialysis within a year. There was also the very high possibility that I would experience end-stage kidney failure later in my life.
A second opinion from a consultant nephrologists in New Zealand concurred with the initial prognosis.
There was no way to reverse the kidney failure and no known treatment for it. I was looking at a radical adjustment to my life style. News of my condition went out and a number of friends from my church prayed with me …
On the night of 30th May (while I was still in hospital), I started to prepare my Sunday sermon. I was scheduled to speak on the topic “Authoritative Prayer” in a month’s time. I remember telling the Lord that it would be a struggle to speak with conviction given the condition that I was in. However, I did resolve to speak as He led me. As I was thinking, praying and meditating, at around 9.30pm, the Lord spoke to me and I heard Him say very clearly to me: “You have read of My healing grace from scriptures and from books and heard testimonies from other people. Tonight, I am going to heal you in your body so that you will go out and testify of My healing grace; not from other peoples’ experiences, but, out of your very own experience!”
It was not something I expected as I was quite resigned to living the rest of my life with this disability. I wept at being reminded that this is His grace. I did not deserve His healing because of who I was or what I had done. As the Lord had said to the apostle Paul two thousand years ago, “...My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness...”, 2 Corinthians 12:9.
On the following day, I told the doctor that I wanted to be discharged from the hospital. He advised me to stay a few more days and I was discharged on 1st June.
Over the next three to four months, things began to improve. I went back to the hospital at regular intervals for checks and blood tests. By the fourth month, all my test results (urine & blood tests) had returned to normal.
Praise God! He healed me!
